Mahila SEWA Trust (MST) is a Public Charitable Trust, registered in the year 1975. It is an organization formed to serve poor, needy, Self Employed Women and their families in the informal economy who earn living through their own labour or small businesses in India. They do not have regular work or fixed income and they are not protected by labour laws hence do not get any welfare benefits or social security benefits.
The registration of Mahila SEWA Trust was in commemoration of the International Women Year 1975 which is a step ahead to organise development and welfare of women who are poor, illiterate, self-employed engaged as handcart pullers, vegetable venders, milk producers, junk smith, garment workers, salt farm workers, agriculture workers and so on.
The Trust has been very useful in servicing the women workers in providing various services for their total uplift and betterment. As these workers are not covered under any protective legislation. MST had to evolve its own Social Security Schemes for these poor, needy women and their families.
